Kamenskoe Plato @ Almaty

Having spent enough time in downtown to feel like I'd be wasting time by exploring further there, today I ventured back into the hills. Without too much information to go on, I hopped onto bus 5 and held on till the last stop. The route went as though it was going toward Medeu until hanging a right onto a curvy one lane road; from this point it was a couple of minutes before rising out of the hotels and restaurants up into a snowy suburban community of poor Kazak hill dwellers.

Chomphet District @ Luang Prabang

I read a couple blog posts mentioning a hike across the river from Luang Prabang in the Chomphet District, it looked much more interesting to me then checking out the temples in town so I decided to go for it. I hopped on a ferry right down the street from my hotel, and within a couple minutes I was on my way to hunt down temples.

Bronte to Bondi

Yesterday I took a cab ride over to Bronte Beach in search of a scenic walk. Along the east side of Sydney there are multiple trails going up and down the coast, this one is about 1 mile and goes from Bronte Beach to Bondi  Beach. The weather was cool and the wind was overwhelming  which is reflected in the size of the waves in these pictures. During the walk the wind got strong enough to knock you over, at several points along the way people on the path were leaning against the wind in order to keep their footing.

Manly Beach

Today I took the advice of a co-worker and caught the ferry from Circular Quay over to Many beach. For 14 dollars I was able to buy the two way trip and the return trips went as late as 1:00 am. When you pull into port you'll find a small beach and some restaurants on the wharf, but don't be deceived, this is Manly cove which faces west. If you walk northeast through the shops you'll come out the other-side of this finger of land to Manly Beach looking out into the Pacific.
